Go through the passage, understand the context, and find the word that suits the most. Now move towards the indirect questions, but ensure you don’t stick on it for long.

CLOZE TEST: is a type of comprehension exercise in which the reader is required to add words that have been omitted from the passage. Link the previous and next sentences. Be careful with nouns, pronouns, verbs, prepositions, conjunction, article, and tenses while dealing with this.

ERROR SPOTTING:  This is a very scoring as well as a very less time-consuming section. In most cases, there is an error in the subject-verb agreement. Learn all the error spotting rules of each topic like articles, tenses, nouns, pronouns, etc,…

FILL IN THE BLANKS: For this, a rich vocabulary is required. Apply the elimination rule if you can’t find the answer in one go. Read the full sentence and try to go with the flow.

PARA JUMBLES: In these questions, you have to rearrange the parts of sentences to form a meaningful sentence. Read the sentences carefully and find what is being talked about in the paragraph. you should first arrange phrases and then add those phrases in a meaningful manner.

Write What You Have Learned-
Whether you are a beginner or intermediate in this language jot down your ideas or views about the recent happenings or any of your favorite topics. Ensure you write at least one paragraph per day. Note down the new words along with their meanings in a notebook.  Writing a diary is a good habit to improve your writing skills. Many online platforms like Medium, WordPress, etc.. are available now to share your ideas with fellow human beings. Slowly and steadily you will see yourself improve the spellings, usage of grammar rules, and English all together.

Focus on vocabulary
Solving crosswords, framing sentences with the newly learned words, etc.. would help do better. Avoid Bulk learning. Languages can’t be mugged up altogether. It takes time to bring it within your comfort. Solve the vocabulary from previous year question papers and understand where you stand with the current level of preparation. Also, this will help you understand the level of questions asked for the exam. It’s crucial to learn as much as new words as possible because unlike Grammar rules, this section is vast and we can’t basically predict the questions that might come.

Try out techniques like Mnemonic to remember the vocabulary. It’s a learning technique that aids information retention or retrieval in human memory through phrases, stories, images, etc..

Practice
Practice makes a huge difference to improve your authority over this language. It begins with thinking in English. Let your thoughts be in English. Many times people find it difficult to communicate because they initially frame a sentence in their native language in their mind and then translate it to English. This is not an ideal way to master the language. Practice by conversing in it with yourself or talk with someone else. Change the language on your phone, laptop, etc.. to English. Listen to BBC podcasts like “My Indian Life” or any others that you find interesting. Make a habit to watch English news channels.
